Applying to Allen

What are the admission requirements?

  • Must submit either a transcript that reflects graduation from a regionally accredited high school or GED certificate approved by the originating state department of education.

  • Must have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a four-point (4.0) scale.

  • Must complete and submit a University’s application for admission.

  • Must submit either SAT or ACT score, if applying for scholarship(s)

Does Allen accept Advanced Placement credit?

  • Yes.  In order for the application to be processed in time for registration, the Office of Admissions recommends that transcripts be sent at least six (6) weeks prior to the beginning of the semester in which the student plans to enroll. Transcripts will be evaluated prior to the end of the first semester. The following criteria are used to determine the acceptability of prior college coursework for advanced standing: 

  1. The final grade for the course(s) must be a “3” or higher and must have been earned within ten (10) years prior to the date of transfer. 

  2. The course(s) must have been taken at a regionally accredited institution.

  3. The course(s) must be applicable to the program in which the student plans to enroll. 

  4. The course(s) must be college-level. Course(s) remedial/developmental in nature will not be accepted.

What are the application deadlines?

  • Prospective students are urged to apply early, no later than May 1st, for consideration for the fall semester or November 1st for the spring semester. However, applications are accepted on a space available basis through the end of registration. 

What score do I have to get on an International Baccalaureate (IB) exam to receive credit? 

  • You will need to score a 3.

How many credits are needed to graduate? 

  • You will need 120-121 credits.

Can I take classes at other colleges/universities? 

  •  Yes, you will need to get approval from the Vice President for Academic Affairs. 

What types of degrees are offered?

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Divinity

Does Allen offer a domestic exchange program?

  • No, we do not.

What is the grading like at Allen? 

  • A, B, C, D, F, W, I (Incomplete until assignments are completed in a timely manner)

Does Allen offer graduate programs/degrees?

  • Yes, we have a consortium agreement with the University of South Carolina and Benedict College

Visiting Allen

Does Allen have summer school? 

  • Yes, during the month of June

I am interested in visiting the campus. Does Allen have an on-campus visitation program? 

Campus Life

Can first-year students have cars?

  • Only upper-class students may reside on campus and have a car, parking only in the designated areas. It is recommended that freshmen students residing on campus do not bring cars for the first semester. 

Are first-year students required to live on campus?

  • It is mandatory for all first-year students to reside on campus.

What is the average class size? 

  • Our average class size is 15.

Is there a curfew for students?

  • Yes. The campus is closed, and the Residence Halls’ doors are locked at 1:00am Sunday-Thursday and 2:00am Friday and Saturday. Campus Police Officers will secure the grounds always. If you are leaving the campus for any reason or time, you are required to sign out/in with the Residence Halls’ office staff

How many students are enrolled at Allen? 

  • Our enrollment is 817.

What medical services are provided for students?

  • Yes, we have an on-call doctor and a Medical assistant that will be on campus daily. We ask that all students bring their medical records and immunization records.

Does Allen have campus security officers?

  • Yes, we have campus police.  More information about our campus police department can be found here.
