Applying for Financial Aid

Overview of the Financial Aid Process

While the academic record of a student is important for admission, to the university, and for certain scholarships, most financial aid is awarded primarily on the basis of financial need. Financial need is determined by comparing the amount a student and their family can provide toward their college education with the actual cost of attending Allen University. The purpose of financial aid is to award students within the guidelines of federal, state, and institutional aid programs.  To determine your financial need, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) needs to be completed.

The first step to being considered for financial aid is to apply for admission to Allen University by completing the Admission application online and forward requested credentials to the Office of Admissions.  As you complete your admission requirements, we strongly encourage you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is important that you fully complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. It is available as of October 1st each year.  Regardless of which application is completed first, you must receive your acceptance packet before the Office of Student Financial Aid can process the financial aid application.

As of October 1, 2016, the federal government allows the prior year taxes to be used in completing the FAFSA.  You should submit your FAFSA before our priority deadline, which is March 15th.  Financial aid is distributed in the order of date completed and financial need.  Without complete and current FASA information, we cannot process the financial aid award offer.  Delays could possibly affect the amount of funds that the student will be able to receive.

After we receive your FAFSA, you will be able to access the Financial Aid portal.  Once you have access, you will be able to view all of your financial aid information.

Following these guidelines should give us time to process your application and notify you of your eligibility in a timely manner.  We encourage for you to send your requirements electronically for timely processing.
