Dr. Rounds specializes in the racial and ethnic history of the United States, with an emphasis on African-American History and the Civil Rights Movement. He has written extensively on the history of American immigration, particularly the Irish-American experience. His dissertation Ireland for Sale: The Marketing and Consumerism of the Irish-American Identity since 1880 is currently under contract for publication.
Among Dr. Rounds’ other scholarly activities, he was employed at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, has presented at esteemed institutions such as Georgetown University, and has conducted research at the National Archives and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
In recent years Dr. Rounds has been recognized as a leading voice on political and historical issues by local television and print media, including the Columbia-region FOX affiliate, The State newspaper, and the Charleston Post and Courier.Back to All Faculty
