AU Student-Athletes Receive National Honors

Allen University?s Anthony Gordon and Demetrice Terrell were selected as two of the fifty-nine athletes recognized as 2010-2011 Division I Men?s Basketball Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.? Gordon is a senior guard, majoring in mathematics from Savannah, Georgia and Terrell is also a senior guard majoring in social science from Atlanta, Georgia.?

Scholar athletes are selected based on the following criteria: a junior or senior in good academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution for a minimum of one full year; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale at the time of nomination; and has been certified as an eligible athlete.

?This is the second year that both Terrell and Gordon have received this honor.

Additionally, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2010-2011 Division I Men?s Basketball All-America Teams.? The selections are made by the NAIA Men?s Basketball Coaches? Association All-America Committee and comprises a First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention Team.? Allen?s Demetrice Terrell was selected for the Honorable Mention Team.? He is one of only two students from South Carolina to be selected for any of the teams.
