Allen University’s “GET THE TOOLS” is driven by the spirit to encourage the participation of small and disadvantage farmers in gaining acces to resources of state and federal programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture, and communicate and educate our community through effective outreach and technical assistance.

More than 26,900 farmers keep 4.9 million acres of farmland and alive and growing in South Carolina with an economic impact of more than $3 billion. Many South Carolinanians are not directly tied to farming, but have family roots in agriculture. Aproximately 29% of today’s South Carolina farmers are women, managing over 1.2 million acres of land with an economic impact of $150 million across the state with a focus on organic growing as a way to eat better and improve health.
