The Allen University Symphonic Band and Concert Choir are pleased to invite the public to celebrate the rich and joyous sounds of the season with two presentations of A Christmas Musical. Both performances are free.
This season’s first performance will premiere at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 110 Calhoun Street, Charleston, S.C. An encore performance will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Chappelle Auditorium on Allen University’s campus (1530 Harden Street) in Columbia, S.C.
The program will showcase an elegant arrangement of pieces from instrumental music to delightful choral arrangements such as “Mary Had a Baby,” “Ode to Joy,” “The Christmas Finale” and “Do You Hear What I Hear”. The production will conclude with some of the best known Christmas standards such as “Mary, Did You Know,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World” and “The Christmas Song”.
Allen students will deliver an evening of high quality entertainment that evokes the true essence of the holidays, and offer the public an opportunity to enjoy a delightful concert of familiar tunes and grand classics that blend beautifully into the atmosphere of the season.
The Symphonic Band and Concert Choir provide the public with memorable musical experiences, and this event is just one of the ways it reaches out to ensure Allen University’s legacy is maintained.
